Yatala Open Day

In June, as part of the COLAS Australia 15 Year Anniversary celebrations, COLAS Queensland held an Open House event at our Asphalt Plant Facility in Yatala, welcoming a range of guests including clients, suppliers, road authorities, government representatives, members of the industry, and our executive team. The event provided an opportunity to showcase our site and share initiatives in the areas of safety, sustainability, production, and technical innovation.

Guests participated in a guided tour of the site, which opened in 2021, clearly demonstrating COLAS’ focus on safe site operations and vehicle movement. Andrew Hughes and Harry Roche presented our mobile equipment, displaying the many engineering controls we have implemented to improve the safety of our workers on foot. Trevor Distin and Ben Jones gave an insightful presentation on Recycled Asphalt Pavement, material handling processes, and elements of our low carbon strategy to achieve a 30% CO2 reduction by 2030. Wayne Butler and Blake Forbes used their detailed knowledge of our Benninghoven TBA4000 Asphalt Plant to share information on our site safety processes and the elements of the plant that facilitate the production of sustainable asphalt.

To conclude the tour, Jonathan Hoffman and Greg Nagel guided delegates through the Laboratory, leaving no doubt regarding the strong technical capabilities of the COLAS business.

The event received resoundingly positive feedback, noting the passion of the presenters and the insight and knowledge shared. Our values of Caring, Sharing, and Daring were a frequent topic of discussion, and I was delighted to receive feedback from clients that were proud to be working with COLAS after having witnessed these values in action.

Thank you to everyone who assisted on the day and during the lead-up to the event; your efforts were appreciated and noticed by all in attendance.
