The Role

Lead the way with this newly created position as a Senior Project Manager on the M1 Motorway Extension to Raymond Terrace infrastructure project. Based in Tomago within the Newcastle area, reporting into the NSW Asphalt Manager. This role will include duties such as overseeing projects, performance, cost, quality and WHSEQ. You will also need to engage and communicate strongly with a number of both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities include:

  • Overall supervision and management of the contract/project organisation and for the achievement of specified WHSEQ performance, time, cost, quality, and other performance outcomes of the project.
  • Maintain a high standard of communication with clients and suppliers.
  • Manage program of works and resourcing across multiple projects to ensure efficient delivery in line with Client requirements.
  • Optimise financial performance through the coordination, programming and administration of all contracting operations and obligations to meet or exceed contract requirements.
  • Review project WHSEQ requirements including design risk assessments and proposed controls with the client’s representative.
  • Review project emergency requirements and developing and implementing emergency procedures.
  • Develop project specific inductions and communicating project hazards and WHSEQ requirements and design risk assessments and controls with project personnel.
  • Identify equipment and personnel and competency requirements for the contract works.
  • Monitor and review Construction Plans.
  • Ensure sub-contractor plant, WMS, personnel, and personnel competencies are reviewed.
  • Ensure risk assessments are conducted.
  • Monitor, review, and report WHSEQ performance and issues.
  • Report and resolve conflicts and disputes.
  • Other duties as required.

To be successful in this position, we require the following skills/experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Senior Project Management role within asphalt, Spray seal, construction, or civil construction industry.
  • Civil Engineering degree or similar
  • Previous experience in Contracts Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.

We are currently looking for an experienced Asphalt Foreman to join our team, based in Yatala.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Day to day job planning and execution of works
  • Lead the asphalt crew and ensure that the works are completed within the prescribed timeframes
  • Daily reporting of materials and resources used to complete works
  • Train employees to ensure safe operations of machinery at all times
  • Active participation in preventing and correcting design and delivery issues
  • Lead and demonstrate commitment to safety, environment, and quality performance
  • Completion of job inspections, site inspection forms, daily job specific risk assessments and ensuring all pre-start checks are completed prior to work commencing
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in full and correctly and forwarded on to relevant departments in the required time frames
  • Other duties as required

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following essential skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in the asphalt/ surfacing industry
  • White Card
  • Current driver’s license
  • Proven organisational skills and a “can do” attitude
  • Exceptional time management and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
