Duties & responsibilities

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanic / Diesel Fitter to join our team located in Yatala on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the servicing of the Company’s plant and equipment including scheduled maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs and responding to breakdowns.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Complete scheduled services and maintenance activities in accordance with designated schedules
  • Perform routine repairs to plant and equipment
  • Conduct safety checks and complete Damage Reports
  • Repair faulty or damaged mechanical parts
  • Record repairs and faults in maintenance register (MEX), computer system as needed
  • Maintain critical spares inventory
  • Report near miss and incidents, complete investigations and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Ensure safety of other employees, contractors or members of the public whilst carrying out duties
  • Participate in risk management and hazard identification processes

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Qualified Mechanical Fitter
  • Be a team player and have a “can do” attitude
  • Have proven problem solving & organisational skills
  • Be reliable and able to work unsupervised
  • Knowledge of WHS&E practices

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced and highly capable Spreader Truck Operators to work within our busy Spray Seal crews. The successful applicants will be based out of our Camellia depot.

To be considered for this role you will have good operating skills with the ability to:

  • Access, interpret and apply technical information
  • Maintain equipment records
  • Use relevant hand tools
  • Apply problem identification and solving techniques
  • Fully competent in the successful calculation and set up of specified spread rates
  • A general understanding of bitumen spray rates and aggregate spread rates
  • Basic maintenance requirements and the ability and willingness to carry them out
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised with a high degree of understanding in machine and plant operations
  • Good mechanical knowledge.

To be successful in this position, we require the following skills/experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience operating a Spreader Truck – highly regarded
  • Current HC license
  • Current White Card
  • Experience in the bitumen and asphalt surfacing industry – highly regarded
  • Able to work as an effective crew member and part of a team
  • Able to work efficiently and to deadlines including overtime when required
  • Ability to travel & work away from home
  • Good verbal and written skills
