Nicklin Way and Bulcock Street in Caloundra, QLD

Our COLAS Queensland team recently completed a road rehabilitation project a whole 2 weeks ahead of due completion, along Nicklin Way and Bulcock Street in Caloundra, QLD.

This project included the use of Ground Penetrating Radar before any excavation to verify the pre-existing underground services. The team worked around these to the delight of surrounding property and business owners, and through our project partners’ community relations, adjusted elements of the construction program to achieve outcomes requested by the local retailer, accommodation, and restaurant businesses.

As environmental impacts are always a concern for us, our team identified that construction material would likely drain into the Pumicestone Creek via the east of the site. To prevent this, all surrounding gully pits were lined at the surface and covered by geofabric catch bags, with sand bags over all lintels, and geofabric covering all grates.

During the project, some local wildlife visited the site to audit the environmental impact of our works (see last photo) – they left us with a big tick of approval.
As always, well done to the QLD team!
