COLAS Australia offers a comprehensive range of asphalt products designed to meet modern engineering, sustainability and performance standards. From heavy-duty motorway pavements to quiet residential streets, our asphalt solutions are developed using cutting-edge materials and technologies that reduce environmental impact and extend service life.
Our asphalt range includes premium structural mixes, low-carbon alternatives and circular economy solutions that incorporate recycled content such as reclaimed asphalt, crushed glass and rubber from end-of-life tyres. Whether the priority is load resistance, low noise, lower emissions or cost efficiency, we provide custom asphalt mixes to match every road asset need.
EME2 is a structural asphalt designed using performance based laboratory tests to achieve high strength and flexibility, limiting rutting and cracking under heavy traffic. EME2 Asphalt is manufactured from locally produced hard bitumen and aggregates using conventional manufacturing and laying equipment.
Originally developed by COLAS, EME2 Asphalt has been used in France since the 1980’s and more recently in Australia since 2014. Local specifications have been developed to ensure that the same mix performance is achieve as the European based specifications. The use of EME2 asphalt in heavy duty asphalt pavements offers many benefits to road users and road asset owners.
ECO Asphalt has been specifically developed by using quality controlled selected repurposed waste materials with a proven track record of performance to provide an asphalt which will last longer and outperform conventional dense graded asphalt.
Surfacing 1 km of lane with ECO Asphalt can recycle 559 tyres and 57,000 glass bottles.
A smart solution for environmentally conscious road construction.
Warm Mix Asphalt is produced at significantly lower temperatures than traditional hot mix, reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions during manufacture and application. It also improves working conditions and enhances binder longevity, contributing to more sustainable pavement design.
Asphalt is 100% recyclable. At COLAS, we recover and reprocess Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) as an engineered material to conserve natural resources and reduce landfill. RAP contains both high-quality aggregates and aged binder that enhance new asphalt performance when properly blended.
Most COLAS mixes include up to 15% RAP with no performance compromise.
CRMA enhances asphalt flexibility, durability and rut resistance by incorporating rubber particles from end-of-life tyres into the binder. Used in dense, gap and open graded asphalt, CRMA reduces cracking and maintenance while keeping thousands of tyres out of landfill.
COLAS recycles over 1 million tyres per year into high-performing asphalt mixes.
