COLAS Reaches 100,000 tonne milestone on Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade

COLAS NSW is working collaboratively with Transport for NSW and Pacific Complete to supply and lay asphalt between Maclean and Mororo as part of the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade. This section of the upgrade will provide dual carriageway through the Clarence River floodplain.

The project team was also able to secure the supply of asphalt to other parts of the upgrade. In April, the team reached their 100,000 tonne milestone for supplying asphalt out of the RAP King plant and paving on the various sections of the upgrade.

Since mobilising the plant in February 2019, the project team have overcome many challenges. This included keeping their plant and people safe during the bushfires in late 2019, heavy rain including localized flooding in early 2020 and more recently dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Colas’ Project Manager, Lee Whitehead, is proud of what the team has achieved and noted that it would not have been possible without the dedication, support and commitment of Cameron Smith (Project Engineer) Shaun Ward (Project Supervisor), Robert Waters (Plant Manager) and Matt Davies (Lab Supervisor).
